Fieri International Film Festival

 

Fieri International  Film  Festival is a significant and important cultural event- part of a small group of the biggest and most important festivals of that type in Albania. Every year the event features more prominent pictures and hosts authors from Albania and abroad. The development of this festival is aimed at sensitizing people to the art of cinema.

The purpose of this festival is to present different cultures, film language, exchange of ideas, as well as presentation and promotion of independent film art. The event will take place in a beautiful historical building in the center of Fieri (Albania), at "Bylis" cinema on September 20-25 2012.The reason why the festival will take place in Fier is the desire to develop the art of cinema.

The Local Community Centre  in Fier and "Apollon TV" are the official organizers of this remarkable and promoting independent film making event. Participation in the festival will be free. Also the entering of the viewers will be free.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to directors, film makers, and producers of presented films from all over the country and abroad. We have the pleasure to inform you that the festival will host professional and international Jury, as well as other well-known representatives of the film and media industry. The oversight over the festival is held by some major national media, from where we also notice a growing interest in the event and consequently their participants.


The event will feature festival screening and special showing of films, there will also be numerous panel cussions, as well as open to the audience Jury debates, and meetings with film makers. There will also be other events accompanying the festival. Each film will presented by the director who will speak briefly about the project  as well as the time when it is realized.

Because the main aim of the festival is the presentation of the film makers accomplishments, coupled with any new trends and ideas in the independent movie making scene, the character of the festival makes room for variety of forms - feature films, documentaries, and all kind of experimental forms created with the help of a video camera. There are no restrictions on themes and topics.

In the first edition came about 300 films from 80 countries. 100 movies were selected for the final program of the festival  in the official selesction of FIFF. Beside the movies coming outside of Albania, FIFF had some greeting movies by the students of Academy of Film and Multimedia "MARUBI".
